  • 2015 Public Education Awards Ceremony

Public Education Excellence Awards2015 Public Education Awards Ceremony, Strathfield, Cantebury region

On Monday 30th November, I was the chairperson in collaboration with Strathfield Girls High School’s 2016 Captain, Sabrine El-Kabbout, for the 2015 annual Public Education Excellence Awards ceremony for the Strathfield, Canterbury region. Initially I was under the impression that it would be a routine proceeding with as little deviation from mainstream award ceremonies as possible. In some ways I was right, however the program that Principal, Mrs Lyris, and her Strathfield Girls team designed, was elegant and very tasteful. Neither Sabrine, nor I was prepared for the formalities of such event, but we powered through with endless support and motivation.

  • Citizenship Ceremony

Our final Citizenship Ceremony was held in November and attended by School Captain Dominic Yates, together with Mertcan Saklak and Andrew Lai who did an amazing job preparing and serving refreshments. And thanks to all those boys who have assisted with this process over the past five years. My best memory of their help is that almost every boy that has served in nearly 20 ceremonies sets out the food plates in a straight line down the table. They have now learnt that by alternating the pattern it makes the presentation so much more appealing to the eye!

Thank you to all those wonderful parents who contributed to this ceremony with their donation of food or money. It was a fantastic result and I am very grateful for your kind support. We have a wonderful group of parents who supply tasty morsels or leave us a monetary donation which we purchase food on their behalf.
