Former Homebush Boys High School’s, highly inspirational and talented, Year 12 Visual Arts student, Leandros Pandoulis, has done it yet again. He has been successful in having his Body of Work selected, for the 2014, ARTEXPRESS exhibition. To our delight, Leandros has also had the pleasure of winning a prestigious award, at the launching of ARTEXPRESS 2014. His work, White Bay Dreaming, was selected for the S&S Creativity Unlimited Award, awarded for colour and material usage.

Congratulations to Leandros Pandoulis, for his successful entry into this extremely competitive and highly recognised exhibition, and for receiving the S&S Creativity Unlimited Award. White Bay Dreaming is proudly displayed, in the Art Gallery of NSW, talents publically recognised.

Harmony Day, 21st March, was acknowledged at the school assembly this year with a speech by Adam Yoon, Year 10 SRC representative. The text of Adam’s speech is included below and it highlights the focus of Harmony day and the positive multicultural nature of our school.

Good morning teachers and students,

In keeping with raising awareness and putting a stop to bullying, today is also another significant day of celebration. As you may have heard today the 21st of March is Harmony Day. So what is Harmony Day? Harmony Day is a national day of cultural respect and acknowledgement to all those who call Australia home, from the indigenous traditional owners to those that have travelled from thousands of kilometres away. As we take pride in both our individuality and cultural diversity, it is important to remember that we all stand collectively shoulder to shoulder as Australians and Homebush Boys.

Homebush Boys High School, 2013, Year 12 students have achieved amazing results in the HSC.  They have been placed amongst the best in the state.  Nayan Bhathela producedan impressive ATAR score of 98.8, AAA recognition and is studying a Bachelor of Combined Law/Computer Science – UNSW.  Universities have recognised our students’ achievements, granting them entry into individual courses that have ATAR requirements of 99.5 and over.  To our delight, over 90% of our students have received university placements. Highlights have included our early university entry achievers, Mitchell Boyd and Sergei Houhlias and individual students ranked in the top 10 for individual subjects.
