On the 2nd April Homebush Boys attended the Sydney North Buckley Shield Gala day for the Under 14’s Rugby League. 16 boys represented Homebush and all played outstandingly. Game one saw them up against Narrabeen Sports High, undoubtedly the toughest game of the day. The boys were down 4 to nil and came back to score and convert to be up 6-4. The game went try for try until Homebush scored with little time remaining to seal the deal. To say I was impressed is an understatement. The boys held their composure and played with true grit to come away with the win. They then had to play the second toughest team Marsden High with no rest, again coming away with the win. Our forwards, second row and lock dominating the opposition.

The remaining three games were a Homebush Rugby League clinic. Our Half back, Five-eight and hooker controlling play and our forwards laying the platform. To pick a player of the day was too difficult but to name a few of the outstanding players in the forwards Xavier Taurerewa-Yucel, Erik Patterson, Terrence Fusi and Salesi Niulala and in the backs Zayde Sabha, Joseph Teaupa, Abdul Sabbagh and Jeth Rinakama. The team not only represented Homebush with pride on the pitch but was outstanding in their sportsmanship on and off the field. They are now on to the Knockout rounds.
