On 11 August 2017, 40 boys from Chinese 8E, 8G and Year 11 Chinese Beginners went on an excursion to Sinofield Chinese Centre, Blue Mountains.

Sinofield is a non-profit organisation providing professional consultation and project management in school education and culture-oriented programs.

It was warm and sunny when we left in the morning, however it was windy and cold in the Blue Mountains when we arrived at Sinofield after one and a half hours. However, all our students were very excited.

From Aboriginal Smoke Ceremony to Chinese dragon dancing, we immersed ourselves into Aboriginal and Chinese culture during the next four hours; we also enjoyed the Tea Ceremony and Chinese calligraphy. Our students, in particular, liked the activity of making and tasting Chinese dumplings. The day finished with the dragon dancing competition which was the highlight of the day.

While experiencing Chinese culture, the boys also learnt some Chinese words, for example, “书法”,“毛笔”,“茶艺” and so on, which made students feel that learning Chinese had been so rewarding and widened their global view.
