Letter to the Principal,

I am writing on behalf of the Sydney Sports Committee for students with additional needs. We held our annual athletics carnival last Friday (25th of August), where we had over 300 students from Special Schools and Support Units (24 schools in total) compete against each other. The carnival is a highlight of the year for the majority of students and staff as it provides opportunities that many students with additional needs do not regularly get. Students come away with new made friendships, higher self esteem and some even get a ribbon for the first time in their lives.

This year I was about to cancel the carnival due to the new WWCC procedures, this made it nearly impossible to get university volunteers to help with the day. Peter Tomlin helped us approach your school, and what an amazing group of young men you were able to send to help out. The young men from Yr 10 Pass and Sharron were beyond anything I could have hoped for. They were polite, proactive, supportive and so enthusiastic. Nothing was too hard or confronting for them, they ran numerous races with students who required extra encouragement, they recorded results, helped students compete in the long jump and showed an enormous amount of initiative for students in Yr10. They made this day possible and I can't begin to thank you enough for allowing them to help out. These young men were more useful than any uni student volunteer I have ever had at the carnival.

I hope that we are able to continue our newly formed relationship with the school for future carnivals. I can't thank you enough for making this possible!

I have attached one photos of the young men from the day and I know that Sharron took some others.

Thank you for all your support,

Kind Regards,
