Dear parents/guardians,

This year’s Philosophy is ‘Better Self, Better School, Better Community”

We wish you and your son a warm welcome to Year 10, 2016.

This is to introduce myself, Ms June Su in the LOTE Department (languages other than English) the year 10 Adviser and Mrs Rita Zammit, also in LOTE as the Assistant Adviser. Should you need to discuss any matters relating to your son’s wellbeing please don’t hesitate to contact us on 9764 3611, leave a message with your return phone number if we are in class and we will return your call as soon as possible.

This year will be another extremely busy year for your sons in their academic endeavours, their sporting and extra-curricular commitments. Together we will ensure that it will be a fulfilling year and a happy one.

Our vision is that each and every student think carefully and make the right choices for the future; make the most of the opportunities offered at Homebush Boys High: academic, sporting, voluntary and other extra-curricular.

We will do our utmost to focus on positive relationships in a respectful environment between students, teachers, support staff and parents, the primary educators.

The initiatives we will undertake in 2016 are as follow:

  • Future pathways
  • Subject selection
  • Focus on retention of students
  • High achievers not only in academic pursuits but sporting and extra-curricular endeavours
  • Transition into Vocational Training courses, TAFE courses, apprenticeships, work experience
  • Leadership opportunities
  • Active citizenship – volunteering “It is better to give than to receive”.
  • A Year 10 Camp to build on relationships and fostering leadership
  • RoSA examinations

We intend having an information night regarding the Year 10 camp as soon as possible to listen to your questions and suggestions.

In conclusion, please help us to ensure that your son’s year in 2016 is a positive and successful one by making sure they attend every day and, if they are absent, please advise us of the reason/s for their absence.

Ensure they come to school well-groomed and in their school uniforms; that they are punctual and bring all relevant requirements to classes.

We look forward to working with you and your sons this year.

With Best Wishes,

June Su
