On Tuesday 1st September, a handful for year 8 students volunteered their time to raise money for the thousands of people who have been affected by the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. They collected donations from staff and students and also sold maroon wristbands for $2 which state #HBHS Stands with Refugees. Through their awesome efforts we raised $295.40 and this money will go directly towards helping those affected in Beirut. They have shared their experiences on volunteering at our school.

  3. I think we should help others because you don't know what someone is going through until you've gone through it that's why we should help others and help will come back when you need it.

  1. I volunteered to help with the UNHCR shelters for Lebanon fundraiser at Homebush Boys High School because I thought that if I were to help fundraise money for Lebanon, I would feel like I am saving lives and will be helping a lot of people.
  2. We helped raise money by selling wristbands that say #HBHS stand with refugees. We gave them a wristband so they would also be proud to tell everyone that they donated and people were giving money for a good cause.
  3. I think we should help others because it is what makes us feel good about ourselves and makes us feel like superheroes. When we help others, we feel like we have removed all of the bad things we have done and we feel relieved.

  1. I volunteered to help with the UNHCR shelters for Lebanon fundraiser at Homebush boys high school because of the people in Beirut that are injured because of the explosion. I felt sorry for all the innocent people who died in this explosion. Some people have lost houses, vehicles and other things the own.
  2. We helped raise money by giving out wristbands to people, selling them for two dollars during assembly, roll call, recess and lunch. We gave out a red wristband to all the people who donated two dollars.
  3. I think we should help others because they are in danger. They don’t have money to survive and live. That is where we should come in and help the people who have suffered in the explosion.
