Dear parents & caregivers,

This Term, all Year 9 students will be involved in reading and numeracy Check-in assessment.
Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online reading and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning, following the period of learning from home. This assessment supplements existing school practices to identify how students are performing in reading and numeracy, and assists schools to respond to student needs in these areas. It compensates to some extent for the cancellation of the NAPLAN tests this year.
This assessment is scheduled for Thursday 3rd September (Week 7 of Term). Friday 4th September will be a catch-up day.

In relation to the Check-in assessment, please note that:
• students with disabilities will receive the same level of support as they would normally receive in the classroom;
• students are asked to bring headphones or earbuds which plug into a computer, to enable them to hear audio during the assessment (the school will also have a supply available, in the event that students cannot bring their own); and
• no reports will be sent home to parents; however, parents are welcome to contact the school to discuss their sons’ results.
A copy of this letter and a brief presentation will be placed on the school’s website (follow the links to curriculum, then literacy & numeracy). All Year 9 students will also be emailed a copy of the presentation.
If there are further queries regarding the Check-in assessment, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Bawden at the school (Ph 9764 3611, Tuesdays/Thursdays).

Yours sincerely,

M. Bawden
