On Sunday 19th May, eight students from year 11 participated in the Volleyball NSW Schools Cup at Sydney Olympic Park. The team was made up of Shivam Bhonsle, Daniel Carnt, Gautham Deepa Kumar, Shiv Gowrishankar, Danees Krishnapalan, Sourabh Leelchand, Jason Qian and Aryan Sharma.

Our first match started at 8am where we played against Baulkham Hills High School. Despite the valiant efforts of our team and a well fought match, Baulkham Hills came away with the win in the first round. Second match was against Ryde Secondary College where it was a close game but we were beaten by the buzzer and Ryde were awarded the win. We had a decisive win in the third round against Kingsgrove High School, putting us in third place going into the semifinals. The team also completed match duties during the competition, with all our boys stepping up to the challenge of refereeing, scoring and line refereeing.

Knowing we had lost to Ryde was a challenge going into the semifinal match against them, but morale was high and we managed to come away with a win in a tight match, putting us through to the grand final. This was the best match Homebush played that day. We fought hard, eager to get every point we could against Baulkham Hills but unfortunately, they were just too good. We finished the day happy, proud and with silver medals around our necks, an exceptional effort for playing five matches over the course of the day.

Thank you to Miss Napoli and Mr Madyski for providing us with this wonderful sporting experience
