  • Study Skills 2017

Homebush Boys High School has launched an exciting new study skills program this year. We have subscribed to the Enhanced Learning Study Skills Handbook. This is a great online resource for students to address all their study skills issues and concerns, as well as learn new ways to improve students’ results at school. The handbook provides a huge amount of information for students with modules such as Time Management, Active studying, Preparing for exams and Avoiding distractions.

We aim to utilise the resources provided to deliver many of the modules across Years 7 - 12 in targeted study skills lessons throughout the year. The information will be tailored to suit the specific needs of our students.

  • NSWTF Stop Work Meeting

    Dear Parents and Caregivers,

The New South Wales Teachers Federation has endorsed a state wide industrial stop work meeting on Thursday 8 December 2016. Some teaching staff from Homebush Boys High School will be attending this meeting in the morning.

As this is the same day as our Annual Presentation Ceremony I am negotiating with the NSWTF to ensure some staff may have an exemption from the Stop Work Meeting to attend the school and Marie Bashir Public School Auditorium to ensure our Presentation Day which we have be planning for quite a long time can still go ahead.

Therefore, Homebush Boys High School will be operational with minimal supervisionon Thursday 8 December 2016 from 8:30am to 10.00 am. There will be adequate supervision as planned to walk the boys to the venue from school as per our organisation which has previously been sent to you. There will be enough staff at the venue also for satisfactory supervision.

Students will be dismissed from the venue as planned and previously notified in our letter regarding Presentation Day.

Full staff supervision and Presentation Day activities will begin at 10.45 am on Thursday morning following the meeting.

  • HBHS Supports Women's Issues

Homebush Boys High School has long maintained a tradition of involving itself in various foundations and charities dedicated to supporting women, most recently Pink Ribbon Day and White Ribbon Day. Here at Homebush Boys we recognise the struggles of women throughout the world, and wish to pledge our support to those causes that endeavour to assist women, in order to honour the contribution females have made to our lives and the greater globe.

Pink Ribbon Day aims to raise donations for ongoing research into women’s breast cancer. Such an issue is recognised as significant and confronting by many at Homebush Boys, and some of us have felt the impact of this issue in the loss of a significant female in our lives.

  • White Ribbon Day

The following is the speech read by Ibrahim Taha during our school assembly on White Ribbon Day 2016.

White Ribbon Day is greater than just pinning on a nice white ribbon or enjoying a sausage sizzle. The message of White Ribbon Day must be taken to every heart and put into practice in our everyday life.

The message of White Ribbon Day goes out to all the men, women and children caught up in the horrors of violence, that WE stand together and make a personal and school community commitment to oppose all forms of violence, and to use our voice of compassion, empathy and justice to break the silence of so many.

Violence against women occurs anywhere. It destroys the wellbeing, dignity and self-worth of our women, our mothers, sisters, and our colleagues.
