Homebush Boy’s 13 Years Rugby TeamHomebush Boy’s 13 years rugby team played a ‘friendly” match against The King’s School at Parramatta on Monday 20 June.  The game was vigorous, competitive and played in great spirit and provided our boys a wonderful rugby experience. King’s eventually won 33-39 but not before the lead changed hands several times.

Homebush 33 (Adam Paterson, Tarek Tabbah, Angelo Mun, Mark Seo, Zane Bardouh tries and Zane Bardouh 3 and Jihad 1 Tabbah conversions.

Homebush’s two best players Vinujan Vijayathas & Kapeliele Fusi were presented with a new King’s rugby ball after the match.

Mr. Stephen James, King’s Rugby Coordinator and ex Wallaby said “the Homebush boys were a credit to the school. They carried the ball into contact strongly and tackled aggressively”.

King’s are keen to host Homebush Boy’s High on an annual basis. In a generous gesture, Mr. James presented each Homebush boy with a King’s rugby ball.

Homebush Boys High School this season has three rugby teams compared to King’s who field 30 teams in the GPS competition and have ten rugby fields. Their efforts highlight what a great effort it was from our boys to provide quality opposition and demonstrates the strength of Public Education.

After the game, Homebush and King’s players joined together for speeches, presentations and a photograph.

The 13 years team has trained twice a week at 7.30am since February with many boys playing their first season of rugby. Recently, the team has participated in rugby sessions with the Waratahs development officers. The team has made great progress in their play and in the match after the King’s experience, drew with Ashfield Boy’s HS who currently lead the North West Zone competition.
